Context

When a Guild Member storefront changes hands—due to expansion, relocation, or succession—fraudsters attempt to short-circuit verification and siphon future payouts. This playbook outlines the checks required before ownership transfer is approved.

Minimum verification artefacts

  • Government-issued ID and BVN/Bank ID of both outgoing and incoming owners.
  • Business registration certificates, cooperative endorsements, or guild letters confirming legitimacy.
  • Proof of inventory ownership (receipts, supplier invoices, provenance photos).
  • Signed assignment agreement covering liability, dispute processes, and restitution obligations.

Financial safeguards

  • Maintain escrow on all orders for 14 days post-transfer while transaction behaviour stabilises.
  • Require multi-signature approval for payout changes: outgoing owner, incoming owner, and Qubicbox trust ops.
  • Validate bank accounts with micro-deposits and compare names using NDPR-compliant KYC providers.
  • Flag unusual basket sizes or cancellation spikes for manual review.

Operational steps

  1. Launch the “Storefront Transfer” workflow in Qverity and upload documents for both parties.
  2. Schedule a video or in-person inspection using the Qubictry field team checklist.
  3. Update the storefront profile with new owners and set a verification reminder for 3 months post-transfer.
  4. Publish a Trust Note summary to partner marketplaces so they can update internal watchlists.

Communication templates

  • Notify existing customers about the changeover, emphasising escrow protections and new support contacts.
  • Provide buyers with a channel to report suspicious behaviour during the transition window.
